1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Tinker Some LLC ("Company," "we," "our," or "us"), the operator of the Split-Calc mobile application ("App"), collects, uses, stores, and shares your data. By using the App, you agree to the terms outlined in this policy.

2. What Data Do We Collect?

We collect minimal data necessary to operate and improve the App:

·      Apple ID (used to measure app usage frequency)

·      Receipt save count (daily summary only)

·      User-submitted bug reports

·      [If analytics is enabled] Receipt images and extracted text

3. How Do We Collect Your Data?

We collect data when you:

·      Open and use the App

·      Save a receipt

·      Submit a bug report or contact support

·      Opt in to the analytics feature

4. How Do We Use Your Data?

We use your data to:

·      Track app usage metrics

·      Process user-submitted bug reports

·      Improve the App’s functionality and performance

·      If analytics is enabled: train machine learning models and detect analytics abuse (with minimal, anonymous metadata)

·      We do not use or sell your receipt content for marketing purposes.

4A. Legal Basis for Processing Your Data

Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we rely on the following legal bases for processing your data:

·      Performance of a contract: To provide you with access to and functionality of the App.

·      Consent: For optional features such as analytics, which are disabled by default and require explicit opt-in.

·      Legitimate interest: To improve app performance, detect abuse, and maintain service reliability.

·      Legal obligation: When required to retain or disclose data under applicable laws or regulations. 

5. Third-Party Data Processing

·      When using the camera function, receipt text may be sent to a third-party provider for text parsing.

·      These third parties may retain data per their own privacy policies; we do not control their data retention or use.

·      If analytics is enabled, receipt images and extracted text are uploaded to secure cloud storage. These are anonymized (no names, device IDs, or PII).

6. Analytics Feature (Opt-In)

·      Analytics is disabled by default.

·      Users may choose to enable analytics via the app’s settings menu.

·      When enabled, non-identifiable receipt data is uploaded for service improvement.

·      Minimal metadata may be retained to detect abuse (e.g., repeated or automated receipt uploads).

7. Children’s Privacy

This App is not intended for use by children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal data to us, please contact us at split-calc@tinkersome.com, and we will take steps to delete such data.

8. No Background Tracking

The App does not track you in the background. If the App is closed, no data is collected or transmitted.

9. How Do We Store Your Data?

·      Receipt counts and bug reports are stored securely using Apple servers.

·      Analytics data (when enabled) is stored on encrypted cloud servers.

·      We retain receipt count data unless you request its deletion.

·      We only store bug reports for a maximum of 6 months at a time.

·      We store analytics data  to train our machine learning model for 5 years.

10. Your Data Protection Rights

You have the following rights:

·      Access: Request a copy of the data we store about you.

·      Erasure: Request deletion of your data, unless required by law enforcement.

·      Withdraw Analytics Consent: You may disable analytics in-app at any time.

·      You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Yet we request you reach out to us first to resolve the issue. Please email us with the subject line including  “COMPLAINT”.

·      To exercise these rights, contact us at split-calc@tinkersome.com. We will respond within a maximum of 30 business days. 

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We regularly review and update this Privacy Policy. Updates will be posted in-app or on our website. The current policy is effective as of the date listed above.
